*Continues from Sodom*

It had been 3 weeks since the call with Toyosi.

It had gone slightly better than he had expected, though he didn’t have much expectation to begin with. He wasn’t even too sure why he had called her. When he had told her who it was, she uttered an “oh”, and they both stayed on the phone in silence. Then someone who sounded just like him said,

“It’s been a long time. Could we see? I understand if you’re busy or would just rather not, but could we meet up and speak? Please?”

He braced himself for her no and what he would say to make the rejection less awkward, but was shocked when she said “okay”. She sounded like she had been ready for this conversation, or maybe she was just good at hiding how she felt. She said they could meet 3 weekends from now, and that she would get back to him on a location nearer to the date. He agreed, and they both said their quick byes and cut the line. He spent the next few weeks using everything in his arsenal to distract himself.

3 days ago, she text him.

“Remember the park we used to play football at? Remember that small café with the old Spanish dude that didn’t speak much English? Let’s meet there on Saturday. 5pm yeah?”

So, there he was. Standing on the field he spent his childhood playing football at…
